The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 The closing night, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
