The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
