And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Indeed in that is a sign for the believers. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
