Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 in a high Garden, 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
