S (Saad)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad: By the Qur'an, Full of Admonition: (This is the Truth). 1 nay, but the unbelievers glory in their schism. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! 3 And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a warner (Prophet Muhammad SAW) has come to them from among themselves! And the disbelievers say: "This (Prophet Muhammad SAW) is a sorcerer, a liar. 4 Maketh he the gods One God? Verily that is a thing astounding! 5 And their leaders launch forth [thus]: "Go ahead, and hold steadfastly onto your deities: this, behold, is the only thing to do! 6 We have not heard of this in the last religion; this is surely an invention. 7 What! Upon him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed from on high?" Nay, but it is My Own reminder that they distrust! Nay, they have not yet tasted the suffering which I do impose! 8 Or, have they the treasuries of the Mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Giving? 9 Have they control over heavens and earth and whatever [lies] between them? Then let them climb up to heaven by ropes: 10 (As they denied Allah's Message) they will be a defeated host like the confederates of the old times (who were defeated). 11 Before them (were many who) belied Messengers, the people of Nuh (Noah); and 'Ad; and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) the man of stakes (with which he used to punish the people), 12 and the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the Wood -- these were the confederates. 13 None of them was such that it did not deny the Noble Messengers, therefore My punishment became inevitable. 14
