The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He has created man: 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance. 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 He spread out the earth for the people. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 16 He is Lord of the two easts and Lord of the two wests. 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
