And mention Ibrahim in the Book; surely he was a truthful man, a prophet. 41 When he said to his father; O my father! why do you worship what neither hears nor sees, nor does it avail you in the least: 42 Father, I have been given some knowledge which has not come to you, so follow me: I shall guide you along a straight path. 43 O my father! Serve not the devil. Lo! the devil is a rebel unto the Beneficent. 44 O my father, indeed I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful so you would be to Satan a companion [in Hellfire]." 45 But he replied: 'Do you shrink away from my gods, Abraham? Surely, if you do not cease I will stone you, so leave me for awhile' 46 He said, “Stop it – peace be upon you; I shall seek forgiveness for you from my Lord; indeed He is very kind to me.” 47 "And I shall turn away from you and from those whom you invoke besides Allah. And I shall call on my Lord; and I hope that I shall not be unblest in my invocation to my Lord." 48 Then when he had renounced them and that which they worshipped beside Allah, We bestowed on him Is'haq and Ya'qub and each one We made a prophet! 49 We granted them Our blessing and high renown. 50
