۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 Are we not then to die 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
