۞ Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 What then, shall we not die 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
