Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 and raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
