Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
