The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And your clothing purify 4 Pollution shun! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 So that is a tough day. 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
