The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 On a grievous day, 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
