He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 So you are after him! 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
