And this (Qur'an) is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth- 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 Truly it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 In order that he read it to them, even then they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter into the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 then there comes on them that they were promised, 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 And We did not destroy any town but it had (its) warners, 208 By way of reminder; and We never are unjust. 209 And the devils have not brought the revelation down. 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 indeed they are debarred from overhearing it. 212 So call not thou unto another god along with Allah, lest thou be of the doomed. 213 And warn thou thy clan, the nearest ones. 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 If they do not obey you, tell them: "I am not responsible for what you do." 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 And your movements among those who bow in homage to God. 219 Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? 221 They descend upon every sinful liar. 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- 225 and say things which they do not act upon, 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
