The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
