The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the mount 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 by the House inhabited 4 and the uplifted roof 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 such as play at plunging, 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
