Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A (goodly) number from those of old, 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water, 42 Under the shadow of thick black smoke 43 Neither cool nor honorable. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- 47 And also our forefathers? 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie! 51 Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom, 52 And shall fill therewith your bellies. 53 and will thereupon have to drink [many a draught] of burning despair 54 You shall drink it as the thirsty camels drink." 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators? 59 It is We who have ordained death for all of you; and We cannot be prevented 60 from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower? 64 We could turn it, if We pleased, into straw; then you would rue the day, 65 (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing): 66 Nay, but we have been deprived [of our livelihood]!" 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 We could make it brackish, if We pleased; so why do you not acknowledge thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire you kindle? 71 Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? 72 We have made it as a reminder of hell and as a utility for travellers in the jungle. 73 Then glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
