The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
