Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 I swear by the Book that makes things clear: 2 We have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may understand. 3 It is inscribed in the original Book (of Books) with Us, sublime, dispenser of (all) laws. 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the earlier peoples! 6 And never came there unto them a prophet but they used to mock him. 7 Then We destroyed men mightier than these in prowess; and the example of the men of old hath gone (before them). 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 Who hath made for you the earth a bed, and hath made for you paths therein that haply ye may be directed. 10 It is He who sends water down from the sky in due measure, We revive dead land with it and likewise you will be resurrected from the grave, 11 He who created pairs of everything, and fashioned for you boats and beasts on which you ride, 12 so that you can sit upon their backs and then remember the Favors of your Lord and say: 'Exaltations to Him who has subjected these to us otherwise, we ourselves were not capable of it, 13 “And indeed we have to return to our Lord.” 14 Yet they attribute to some of His servants a share with Him (in his godhead)! truly is man a blasphemous ingrate avowed! 15
