The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 The closing night, 17 The rising dawn, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
