Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By this luminous Book. 2 We verily, have made it a Quran in Arabic, that you may be able to understand (its meanings and its admonitions). 3 It is inscribed in the original Book (of Books) with Us, sublime, dispenser of (all) laws. 4 Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 5 How many Messengers did We send to the ancient people? 6 And never came there unto them a prophet but they used to mock him. 7 and so, [in the end,] We destroyed them [even though they were] of greater might than these: and the [very] image of those people of old became a thing of the past. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and appointed ways for you therein, that haply you may be guided; 10 and who sent down out of heaven water in measure; and We revived thereby a land that was dead; even so you shall be brought forth; 11 He who created pairs of everything, and fashioned for you boats and beasts on which you ride, 12 so that when you are mounted upon them you may remember the bounty of your Lord, and say: “Glory be to Him Who has subjected this to Us whereas we did not have the strength to subdue it. 13 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" 14 Yet they make some of His servants partners in His divinity. Man is clearly ungrateful! 15
