And a sign for them is the dead earth; We gave it life and We produced from it grain, so they eat from it. 33 And We place therein gardens of the date-palms and vines; and We therein cause to gush forth springs. 34 So that they may eat of its fruit; yet it was not done by their hands. Then why do they not acknowledge thanks? 35 Exalted is He who created all pairs - from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night; We strip the day out of it, thereupon they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runs his course for a period determined for him: that is the decree of (Him), the Exalted in Might, the All-Knowing. 38 And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. 39 It is not permitted to the sun that it should overtake the moon, nor can the night outstrip the day: each in an orbit, they float. 40 And a sign unto them is that We bear their offspring in a laden ship. 41 and [that] We create for them things of a similar kind, on which they may embark [in their travels]; 42 And if We will, We shall drown them, and there will be no shout (or helper) for them (to hear their cry for help) nor will they be saved. 43 except through Our Mercy and as enjoyment for awhile. 44 When they are told, "Fear ye that which is before you and that which will be after you, in order that ye may receive Mercy," (they turn back). 45 Never came a token of the tokens of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it! 46 When they are told to spend for the cause of God out of what He has provided for them for their sustenance, the disbelievers say to the believers, "Should we feed those whom God has decided to feed? You are in plain error." 47 And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?" 48 The Truth is that they are waiting for nothing but a mighty Blast to seize them the while they are disputing (in their worldly affairs), 49 Then they will not be able to make bequest, nor they will return to their family. 50

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
