The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
