The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
