The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the bounties [of war]. Say, "The [decision concerning] bounties is for Allah and the Messenger." So fear Allah and amend that which is between you and obey Allah and His Messenger, if you should be believers. 1 For, Believers are those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a tremor in their hearts, and when they hear His signs rehearsed, find their faith strengthened, and put (all) their trust in their Lord; 2 Who establish worship and spend of that We have bestowed on them. 3 These are the true Muslims; for them are ranks before their Lord, and forgiveness and an honourable sustenance. 4 As it was your Lord who rightfully brought you forth from your house, even though some of the believers disliked it, 5 They argued with you about the truth after it had been made clear, as though they were being led to certain death while looking. 6 And when Allah promised you one of the two parties that it shall be yours and you loved that the one not armed should he yours and Allah desired to manifest the truth of what was true by His words and to cut off the root of the unbelievers. 7 that He might prove the truth to be true and the false to be false, however averse the evil-doers might be to it. 8 Remember ye implored the assistance of your Lord, and He answered you: "I will assist you with a thousand of the angels, ranks on ranks." 9 And Allah made not this save as a glad tidings, and that your hearts might thereby be set at rest; and succour cometh not but from Allah. Verily Allah is Mighty, Wise. 10
