And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
