He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and purified. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
