(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 And only then will he receive his recompense in full; 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 It is He who utterly destroyed the ancient tribes of Ad, 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The approaching event has come near. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 Will you laugh at it rather than weep? 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62
