The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 Their brother Lot asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 So fear God and listen to me. 163 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds. 164 What, do you come to male beings, 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 "O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!" 169 We therefore rescued him and his entire family. 170 Except one old woman, who stayed behind. 171 We destroyed the others 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 174 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
