(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Did not the news reach him, of that which is mentioned in the Books of Moosa? 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 and that it is He who creates the two kinds - the male and the female 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 and caused them to be covered with that which He covered them with. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 and none but Allah can avert it. 58 Are you astonished at this news, 59 and do you laugh, and do you not weep, 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]. ۩ 62
