Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In a lofty Garden 22 its fruits are near. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
