Have you seen the one who turned away 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 And that it is He Who earlier destroyed the tribe of Aad? 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62
