The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
