The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he thought; 21 frowned and scowled, 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
