The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
