The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
