The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
