He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honourable pages. 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
