The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 And the swollen sea, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
