Al-Haaqqah 2 of 2
But nay! I swear by that which you see, 38 and by what you do not see, 39 That this is indeed the word of the noble Messenger, 40 it is not the word of a poet -- how little you believe! -- 41 and neither is it - however little you may [be prepared to] take it to heart - the word of a soothsayer: 42 (This is) a Message sent down from the Lord of the Worlds. 43 And if he had forged concerning us some discourses. 44 We would have seized him by his right hand, 45 and then severed his life vein; 46 And not one of you would have withheld us from punishing him. 47 And lo! it is a warrant unto those who ward off (evil). 48 We know very well that there are some among you who reject Our signs -- 49 And indeed it (this Quran) will be an anguish for the disbelievers (on the Day of Resurrection). 50 This is the Truth beyond any doubt. 51 Extol, then the limitless glory of thy Sustainer's mighty name! 52

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
