The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the books are spread, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and the night that falls, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
