The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He hath created man. 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 And the herbs and the trees do obeisance. 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 And observe the weight with equity, and make not deficient the balance. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 16 He is Lord of the two easts and Lord of the two wests. 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 but has created a barrier between them so that they will not merge totally. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain you men and jinn then deny? 25
