The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
