The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
