The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
