The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
