Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And cups set at hand. 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
