Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
