Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the dawn; 1 By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah). 2 By the even and odd (contrasted); 3 and by the night when it moves on towards daybreak (reward and retribution in the next life is an absolute reality). 4 Is there in that an oath for the mindful? 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 of Iram, known for their lofty columns, 7 The like of which was not created in the lands; 8 And how did He deal with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the valley? 9 And with Pharaoh of the tent pegs 10 They were tyrants in the land 11 spreading in them much corruption? 12 So your Lord poured a scourge of punishment over them. 13 Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them). 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by exalting him and bestowing His bounties upon him, he says: “My Lord has exalted me.” 15 But when he tries him and stints for him his provision, then he says, 'My Lord has despised me.' 16 Nay! But you treat not the orphans with kindness and generosity (i.e. you neither treat them well, nor give them their exact right of inheritance)! 17 And do not urge one another to feed the needy. 18 And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether, 19 And love wealth with abounding love. 20 Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder, 21 and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, 22 And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance? 23 He shall say: O! would that I had sent before for (this) my life! 24 On that day the punishment of God and His detention will be unparalleled. 25 And none will bind as He will bind. 26 [To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul, 27 Return towards your Lord you being pleased with Him, and He pleased with you! 28 "Enter thou, then, among My devotees! 29 "And enter you My Paradise!" 30
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
